This series of wall-hung panels are dense compositions of many kinds of fabric, including leftover cuttings of hand-woven cloth from previous projects.  A book with illustrations of medieval shields suggested the idea of fabric 'shields', which could be varied in shape with a complex arrangement of manipulated fabric enriched with applications of painting and embroidery.  Some areas of fabric are quilted, making for a rich, extravagant surface.
